I always feel I am a kid at heart and age is just a number. So while traveling; amusement / water parks are always on my list. With a tag of being the #1 water park in Asia, Waterbom, Bali was hence, on my radar.
With incessant rains for the past two days, it was difficult to even fathom driving over an hour towards Kuta where the water park is located from our lovely villa in Canggu. Luckily, after almost two gloomy days, the sun shone bright and we headed towards Kuta.

First Impressions of Waterbom, Bali
Located right next to the busy Kuta coastline, Warerbom, Bali does not look that imposing from the outside.
Upon entering the premises, it was quite a nice view from the parking area itself. The entrance to the park is through the main counter for purchasing tickets and Christmas being around the corner, the mood was quite festive.
Once done with the formalities of getting the tickets and wristbands with money loaded onto it (no cash/card accepted inside the park), we were off towards the lockers and changing area for a fun filled experience ahead.
Although the ticket counter was not too crowded, it is advisable to book the entrance tickets to Waterbom Bali online which is way more convenient. With a few clicks you can get access to exciting exclusive packages that are not available apart from the registered Waterbom Bali website.
The excitement of visiting Waterbom, Bali was quite exhilarating as I had read and heard such wonderful things about it. Boy, it didn’t waiver even for a split second in the park. Its amazing how you can find awesome experiences all around in Bali.
Helpful and friendly staff are available all around the park to help guests find their way around even though the markings are well distributed.
Fun-Filled Rides at Waterbom, Bali
Once done with changing and getting essentials out (GoPro, sunblock, etc), we started scanning the map to look for the best rides and slides.
With the sun shining bright, it was too hard to keep finding the right ride to start our experience in Warerbom, Bali.
So we embarked on the easiest and laziest ride – Lazy River. With water sprinklers gushing water out to make sure that everybody who passes through the Lazy River get drenched, it takes a good ‘lazy’ ten minutes to complete the whole stretch with various in/out points in between.
A plethora of rides and slides with various degrees of thrill awaited us as we headed along to the more intense ones that was more thrilling as well as exciting.
Here’s a word of caution – many slides and rides do not allow a camera on the ride, so the attendant outside the ride usually collects the same to keep them safe and returns once the ride is over.
The first slide/ride that we I went on was the Python, a thrilling ride through cascading waters and rip roaring sounds. The ride starts with a climb onto the third floor and then sliding down on a tube with immense gusto.
Along side Python, there’s the ever amazing Green Viper which is also a slide down from the third floor but without a tube, and let me just say it was fantastic.
A view from the top of the tower gives an aerial view of Waterbom, Bali that clearly shows that much importance has been given to make sure the park is well maintained. Lush green grass gardens with impeccable landscaping made my time in Waterbom, Bali even better.
Following the awesome slides I headed towards the most thrilling ride in Waterbom, Bali which is called Climax. Climax is a ride where you stand inside a launch chamber and the floor gives away literally and you free-fall onto a slide with a loop in between and finally culminating in the shallow water.
Since I have a fear of free falls, this ride was obviously a MUST. As I always say – Conquer your fears.
The fun almost never ends on Waterbom, Bali with the final ride of the day, which was called Boomerang, oh its an awesome rush for sure. Even with my mini alto-phobia, I enjoyed the ride thoroughly which is a slide where one slides up and down a ramp like a boomerang. It turned out to be my favorite ride at Waterbom.
Final Thoughts and Tips
After the rides, it must be noted that everyone is bound to get parched and famished, there are a lot of places where one can quench the thirst and nibble on snacks or eat a meal. We encountered at least four cafe/restaurants where everything from cold beverages to hot meals and desserts are available.
It is also to be noted that much importance has been given to environmental sustainability at Waterbom, Bali and the extremely friendly staff makes sure that guests services are never too far away from a staff member.
There are a few rides/slides which I had to skip due to either being too queued up or lack of time. A few misses – Twirl, Racer, Slingshot, etc were due to both lack of time and long’ish’ queues. It is advisable to go early if you don’t want to miss out.
Since, guests are asked to load up on money onto their wristbands which work within the park for payment (no cash accepted inside the park), while exiting Waterbom, Bali the refund counter en-cashes the remaining money in the band. So don’t forget to get your refund on security locket deposits and balance, if any.
All in all, Waterbom is was a fab day out in Bali.
