It’s more fun in The Philippines is a very apt tagline for this beautiful country. Philippines has so much to offer to travelers – so, if you haven’t yet visited this awesome country, you have missed out on something. I have been to Manila, Boracay , El Nido and Coron but there is SO much more to see and do here. From biking around amazing landscapes to enjoying a dip in the blue green clear waters of Palawan – a traveler can easily be spoilt for choice.
Here are my top 20 experiences which I documented with photographs and would love to share with all of you. This blogpost can give you a sneak peek into my mesmerizing adventures though for a better experience, go visit Philippines now or put it on your bucket list.
Why Philippines should be on your bucket list
#1 – Pristine Beaches – With an array of white sand beaches in Philippines, you will never run out of pristine beaches to check out.
#2 – Biking – Hire a bike and roam around the countryside enjoying paddy fields, dirt roads and coastal drives. It is ONE epic adventure, to say the least.
#3 – Awesome sea food – Enjoy delicious sea food in every part of the country. On your island hopping tour, you can even catch and BBQ your own fish – Become an expert in living off the land.
#4 – Lovely cafes – Kick off your shoes and sit back with a beer or a snazzy cocktail in one of the many bars , cafes and pubs lining the beach. With impeccable view of sunsets, boats and oceans, you will want to sit back and enjoy the laid back vibe of the country.
#5 – Getting clicked with important people – Well, umm, not really people but statues, in this case. Go explore Manila and you will find several works of historical importance – Feel free to pose with the heroes.
#6 – Exploring hidden gems – Find hidden gems like blue lagoons and waterfalls in the deep forests. Reward yourself by taking a dip in the fresh waters.
#7 – Taking in the beauty – Just go to any of the spectacular view points and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Philippines. This enchanting land is sure to put you under it’s spell.
#8 – Spectacular Limestone Formations – There are photo opportunities in abundance here. You will want to get clicked literally everywhere. Pick some spectacular lime stone formations and you get yourself some great shots.
#9 – Water activities – Go diving, snorkeling, sailing or just swimming. You can even dive inside underwater caves with flashlights. There is a lot of water and plenty of activities that follow. Pick your poison and start your adventures.
#10 – Horse Carriage Rides in Old Town – Fancy heading back in time and living the classics ? Go on a horse carriage ride around Manila’s Old Town and enjoy the historical era in style.
#11 – Go on a Rickshaw Ride – Try the cute rickshaw rides or heck, just get behind the wheel and drive it yourself. Be careful, they are damn tricky to ride.
#12 – Island Hopping Tours – Go on as many island hopping tours as time permits. There are usually 4 on every popular island in Palawan – that’s literally all you get to do, so go enjoy the blue green waters and take in the natural beauty of Palawan.
#13 – Pub Crawl , Boracay – I highly recommend the Boracay pub crawl. It’s a sure shot way to get wasted and make a ton of friends along the way. Your tour guides would be friendly, fun and entertaining throughout. Must do, especially if you are traveling solo and want to meet more crazy people like yourself.
#14 – Hike in the Middle of Nowhere – With ton of jungles, waterfalls, streams and amazing landscapes, Philippines has some really great hiking routes you can do on your own. You don’t need a guide – just start walking and you will find some unexplored lonely spot which will be worth the reward after a few hours of hike in the bush.
#15 – Check out the Beach Bars & Interact with the Locals – If you are in Boracay, you need to know – its a party haven. You NEED to let your hair down and party hard. If you don’t plan on doing so, you might as well skip it altogether. Don’t forget to smile, say cheers and you will make new friends instantly.
#16 – Kite surf – Boracay’s White Beach is one of the best places for kite surfing. Whether you are a newbie who wants to learn kitesurfing or an avid kite surfer – in either case, head to the White Beach and get surfing.
#17 – Boats, Boats, Boats – You will literally find boats everywhere. Where there is sea, there are boats, right ? However, the boats you find here are incredibly cute. Take pictures, go sailing or just enjoy the boats sailing through effortlessly.
#18 – Volcanoes – You can find the world’s smallest active volcano in Mount Taal, Philippines . You wouldn’t want to miss this, trust me.
#19 – Cathedrals – Even if you don’t have a single religious bone in your body, like yours truly, you would surely wanna go check out the beautiful architecture in the numerous cathedrals in Old Town, Manila.
#20 – Breathtaking Sunsets – I was in love with the sunsets in Boracay. You can either take the sunset boat tour, go parasailing or enjoy it from the beach – All great options and totally worth it.

i did Philippine trip last October 2015, nice destination to me 🙂 beautiful beaches, people so welcome i didn’t say about Manila here, so rude and dirty city. i flew from Manila to Cebu and took express boat to Bohol city, where is chocolate hill views. about one hour from my hostel to downtown we headed to PangLao island is claimed as the most beautiful sand and clear water. I plan to see Boracay and Palawan heard those amazing scenery and island 🙂 after read your blog i can not wait to see Boracay!
